Ronen will stay in US for another year

India's high-profile ambassador to the US, Ronen Sen, is not going anywhere.

NEW DELHI: India's high-profile ambassador to the US, Ronen Sen, is not going anywhere.

Despite his expressed personal desire to return home after his current term expires on March 31, he has been persuaded to stay on for another year.

The extension will mean that he will serve through the tenure of the UPA coalition. The decision is significant as it's a sure-fire indication that sections in the government have not given up on the controversial nuclear deal.

To the extent that it's an integral part of the government's US policy, Sen's staying on is a statement of "continuation" of that policy.
