Role of jawans, commandos vital to counter militancy: Margaret Alva

JODHPUR: Describing terrorism, naxalism and communalism as the biggest challenges before the nation, Governor Margaret Alva today said role of jawans and commandos was vital in dealing with these problems.

She said this while inaugurating the 3rd All India Police Commando Competitions (AIPCC) here at the Rajasthan Police Training Centre (RPTC) which will go on till February 3.

In her address, Alva said policemen require to be physically and mentally fit and should have positive attitude, strong will and fast decision making.

"And this event is an appropriate event with a view to equip them with these attributes, where they also have an opportunity to learn from each other," Alva said.

Meanwhile, DGP (Rajasthan) Harish Meena, in his welcome address, said that we take great pride in our commandos who are ready to deal with any untoward situation that the country is faced with.

He stressed on the need to be better human beings besides being better commandos.

Earlier in the day, Alva also visited Mehran Garh Fort and Central Arid Zone Research institute (CAZRI).
