Role in 2019: Samajwadi Party with son, Mulayam Singh Yadav may return to Mainpuri
Early indications are that Mulayam could prefer to contest the polls from his family’s traditional parliamentary seat, Mainpuri.

Early indications are that Mulayam could prefer to contest the polls from his family’s traditional parliamentary seat, Mainpuri. He currently represents Eastern Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh in the lower house of Parliament.
He is also apparently avoiding any trouble for his son Akhilesh to run the party organisation, though many in the SP are unsure about the next political move of Mulaya m ’s brother and former UP minister Shivpal Singh Yadav. Akhilesh has a young team to run the party.
His style of functioning is different from that of his father, who used to depend on his trusted lieutenants appointed at different parts of the state.
“Akhilesh’s young team is now working in its proper form. They keep an eye on every development within the organisation and communicate it to party chief Akhilesh,” an SP source told ET. If there is a need, he would send one of his people to a district to collect the correct information, this source said.
But Akhilesh is trying to keep his party’s old guard in good humour as well.
