Rohini residents gherao AAP MLA, government officials over land

NEW DELHI: Residents of Rohini area of the city today held AAP MLA Rajesh Garg and government officials captive demanding demolition of a wall erected on a plot which was earlier used as a passage.

According to police, Delhi State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIIDC) had allotted a plot to someone in Badli Industrial area, following which it was surrounded by walls which blocked the locals from using the plot as a passage.

"Local residents wanted the wall to be razed and the plot turned into a passage. They claimed they were even assured by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that the walls of the plot will be razed after his party comes to power," said a police official.

Today when Garg visited the area with DSIIDC officials to understand the issue, however, locals gheraoed him for sometime demanding immediate demolition of the walls, police said.

Police officials and local authorities then reached the spot and brought the situation under control, police said.
