The party will hold a rally on October 12 in Meerut to raise the issue, Chaudhary Charan Singh Memorial Committee coordinator Chaudhary Yudhvir Singh said today.
Chief Ministers of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat, Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda, SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav, former chief ministers of Bihar Nitish Kumar, Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah are expected to participate in the rally, he said.
The party will declare its next move regarding the memorial at the rally, he said.
Dubbing the Centre anti-farmer, Yudhvir said the government had dismissed the demand of the farmers for the construction of a memorial at 12 Tughlaq Road, which is associated with the aspirations of farmers.
Speaking at the press conference, west UP in-charge of RLD, Raj Kumar Sangwan said when government accomodations can be given for memorials of Kanshi Ram and Jagjivan Ram, why can't the government allot a residence for the memorial of Chaudhary Charan Singh.
He said it is not only RLD and farmers' union which is demanding for the memorial, but also other parties who are followers of the late Prime Minister.
12 Tughlaq Road has been the residence of RLD chief and former aviation minister Ajit Singh, who has been fined for overstaying in the type VIII bungalow despite not being an MP.
