RJD, LJP may part ways before general elections
PATNA: The RJD-LJP alliance in Bihar seems to be heading for a split, a prospect which will lead to political realignment ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

“The LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan is under intense pressure to break the alliance with the RJD. We urged him not to compromise with the party’s honour and take a final call on the alliance,” a senior LJP leader told ET adding a formal announcement in this regard would be made next week .

Under the seat sharing formula, the RJD had left 12 seats for the LJP during the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, a demand again replicated by the LJP leadership for the 2014 lok Sabha elections, but Lalu Prasad is in no mood to oblige its alliance partner .

In fact, senior RJD and party MP Raghuvansh Prasad Singh even went on to ridicule the LJP leadership for putting up demands beyond reasonable limit . “They should first disclose the name of candidates before staking claim to seats,” Singh mockingly said hinting that the LJP did not have competent candidates to field in the elections .

A section of the LJP leaders including former MP Surajbhan Singh , Maheshwar Singh and Rama Singh went livid after what the RJD MP spoke about the LJP and are now actively pitching for alliance with the ruling JD(U) in Bihar.
