RJD chief Lalu Prasad resumes slugfest with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar

PATNA: Humbled by the huge defeats, both in the Lok Sabha and the state Assembly elections, Lalu Prasad, who till recently was tactically keeping a low profile, is now taking on his arch-rival Nitish Kumar.

For nearly six months, Lalu seemed to have proceeded on political exile, spending most of the time in the national capital. He also went on to declare that he would not speak against the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government.

The silent period is now over. Lalu sat on a Mahadharna in the state capital on Saturday, besides unveiling his future programmes which will see him leading protest marches across the state.

"After the Assembly elections, I had said I would keep mum for six months. But after having watched the performance of Nitish Kumar, I can say with full conviction that this government is a disaster. It has failed to fulfil aspirations of the people who have been witness to the AC/DC bill controversy and the BIADA land scam. The Forbesganj police firing incident, in which minorities were targeted, has also exposed the true face of the government. Its failures are far too many to be enumerated. But now I am not going to sit back," said Lalu at the dharna site.
