Old video clips are coming in handy for the two factions of the Shiv Sena amid their tussle over legislators, party symbol and where to hold the Dussehra rally.

On Saturday, the Uddhav camp circulated an old clip of late Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray asking party cadres to beat up the Sena MLAs who desert the party. "They (MLAs) contest on our tickets and then join other parties. Henceforth, if any MLA deserts the party, don't worry about the law and just beat him up on the road .

The speech was given by Bal Thackeray during the annual Dussehra rally in the late 90s when the Shiv Sena-BJP government was in power and there was talk about a few Shiv Sena MLAs switch over to the Congress-NCP camp.

The Shinde camp has hit back with videos of Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray himself slamming the Congress and NCP in several of his speeches in the Dussehra rally. In one of his old clips, he says, "We will never allow our strength to stand behind the Congress." Other clips show Uddhav questioning the corruption of Congress and NCP governments and questioning what they have done for the country. All the clips end with tag lines of 'Do not forget' and 'Be faithful with ideology rather than be helpless'.
