MUMBAI: An ordinance on the Right to Services, enabling citizens legal recourse to hold an officer accountable and to ensure time-bound delivery of services, has come into effect in Maharashtra, a senior official said here today.

"Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao signed the ordinance yesterday," the official told PTI, adding, the ordinance makes compliance by civic officials mandatory and includes punitive action.
