KURNOOL: Nature is a great leveller. Industrialist and Congress MLA T G Venkatesh is arguably the richest man of Rayalaseema, but today he is homeless.

The MLA who donated Rs 1 crore to the chief minister relief fund has been forced to take shelter in a hotel room in Kurnool and monitor the relief operations in his constituency from Kurnool.

Venkateshs home sprawls over five acres. He also owns a three star hotel and a hospital on the banks of the Tungabhadra and Handri.

But all these buildings are still under slush and are uninhabitable. Flood water submerged his building in Sankalbag in Narsingrao Pet in Kurnool. He, along with his family members had to flee leaving everything behind on October 2, an employee of Venkatesh told TOI.

I cant describe the plight of the people of my town. Not just my house but the entire town was under water a couple of days back. We are not able to cope with the destruction left by the floods, Venkatesh said on Tuesday.
