Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi here today on the occasion of his 64th birth anniversary.

CHANDIGARH: Rich tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi here today on the occasion of his 64th birth anniversary.

Punjab unit of the Congress at a function at the party headquarters here paid floral tributes and described him as a great visionary who made the supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the country.

Those who paid tributes included two sitting MLAs, including Avtar Singh Brar and Balbir Singh Sidhu besides a number of former MLAs and other leaders and party workers.

The employees of Chandigarh Administration took an oath on "Sadbhavana Day" with Adviser to the UT Administrator Pradip Mehra, administering the pledge, for working for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, creed, region, religion or language and resolving all differences through dialogue and constitutional means without restoring to violence.

Senior officers, including Home-cum-Finance Secretary Sanjay Kumar and Special Secretary Finance Raji P. Shrivastava were among those present on the occasion.
