PM Modi tells Sharad Pawar to rest, says Supriya Sule will help run country

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar after his discharge from a Pune hospital and urged the 85 year old leader to focus on his recovery, saying that he and Pawar's daughter, Supriya Sule, would look after the country, PTI reported.

Modi spoke to Pawar with "great affection and respect" and requested him to take complete rest, his aide Vitthal Maniyar told reporters on Wednesday.

The prime minister also assured Pawar that he need not worry about work, as Sule and others would take care of things, Maniyar said.

"Modi told him that Supriya (Sule) was now ready and she and others would take care of the country, while Pawar saheb should rest," the aide said.

Pawar thanked the prime minister for enquiring about his health and assured him that he was resting and had no concerns about the country, Maniyar added.

Pawar discharged after two days at Pune hospital

The phone call came as Pawar was discharged from Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune on Wednesday after two days of treatment and medical observation. He was admitted on November 2 following complaints of cough and pleuritic pain.

Hospital sources said Pawar was stable and doing well and was expected to travel to his Mumbai residence after discharge.

Dr Purvez K Grant, chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, said Pawar had been admitted for a general check-up and medical observation following complaints of pleuritic pain.

Pleuritic pain refers to chest pain that typically worsens while breathing, coughing or sneezing.

Earlier, Pawar's daughter and Baramati MP Supriya Sule had said that he was undergoing medical tests and that all his health parameters were stable.
