KOLKATA: Responding to chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s call, a hardcore Maoist couple — Jagari Baskey and her husband Rajaram Soren — against whom several cases of murder and violence were pending, surrendered here on Thursday before the police.

The Maoists were brought before Mamata, who welcomed their decision and promised that the government would take care of those who would give up violence.
