Resignation threat a drama: Rane

Maharashtra revenue minister and Congress leader Narayan Rane has dismissed as ‘cheap political drama’ the ‘threat’ of Bihar politicians to resign their Lok Sabha seats.

Maharashtra revenue minister and Congress leader Narayan Rane has dismissed as cheap political drama the threat of Bihar politicians to resign their Lok Sabha seats to protest against attacks on North Indians by MNS in Maharashtra, reports Our Political Bureau from New Delhi.

This threat by some Bihar politicians to resign from the Lok Sabha over the MNS issue is just a cheap political drama with an eye on the coming elections. They know very well that the term of the Lok Sabha is coming to an end in a matter of months and therefore this talk of quitting.

We all know that none of them would have even hinted about quitting two years ago. People are now too used to this kind of political stunt, Mr Rane said at a press conference here.

Mr Ranes response came in response to the resolve of MPs of various political parties, like RJD, JD(U) and BJP, to quit their Lok Sabha seats to register their protest against the attack on people of Bihar in Maharashtra.

Incidentally, Congress MPs from Bihar are also part of what Mr Rane called a political drama. The former Shiv Sena chief minister-turned-Congress leader said he was not in agreement with the violent agitation being staged by Mr Raj Thackerays supporters.

But he lamented, that there was lack of unity among various Maharashtra leaders and parties to unitely take the cause of their state and its people. So long as there is no unity among various Maharashtra parties and leaders to jointly take up the cause of Marathi pride, nothing will happen, Mr Rane said adding that his efforts towards such unity did not yield result due to the indifference of other state leaders.
