Republic Day parade: Railways to showcase AC double-decker coach

NEW DELHI: The air-conditioned double-decker coaches, developed indigenously by the railways, will be on display as a tableau during the Republic Day parade here.

Currently, the AC double-decker trains, with 120 seats are running on three routes and likley to be launched on more routes this year.

The AC double decker train is running between Howrah and Dhanbad, Mumbai and Ahmedabad and New Delhi and Jaipur.

The service is going to be launched between Indore and Bhopal from next month, said a senior Railway Ministry official.

The two-part tableau of railways consists of a replica of an electric engine, the WAP 7, a high horse-power electric passenger locomotive, placed upon the tractor and a replica of the higher capacity AC double decker coach on the trailer.
