IMPHAL: Governor S S Sidhu unfurled the tricolour as the Republic day was celebrated in Manipur amidst tight security following the boycott call by an insurgent group.
Sidhu took salute from participants in the marchpast by the central paramilitary forces, police, various organisations and students at Kangla Ground here.
Official sources said security measures were tightened at state capital here to prevent any untoward incident during the celebrations which were boycotted by insurgents of the Manipur People's Liberation Front.
