Republic Day celebrations across India: Tight security and cultural performances mark the day

Home Minister Rajnath Singh unfurled the tri-colour at his Delhi resident and then proceeded to be a part of Republic Day Parade at Rajpath.

Marching contingents, strategic defence weaponry and colourful tableaux were on display as India celebrated its 69th Republic Day with a grand parade.
India today celebrated its 69th Republic Day with much fervour and enthusiasm even as the northern part of the country remained under the grip of intense cold. The national capital Delhi also witnessed a foggy morning today. Cultural performances amid tight security marked the day.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh unfurled the tri-colour at his Delhi resident and then proceeded to be a part of Republic Day Parade at Rajpath.

BJP President Amit Shah hoisted the national flag at party headquarter in Delhi while RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat defied Kerala government's ban to unfurl the flag at a school in Palakkad area of the state.



Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi hoisted the national flag in Guwahati.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh celebrated the Republic Day in Bastar.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar unfurled the tri-colour in Rohtak while AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi hoisted the national flag at Madina circle of Hyderabad.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan celebrated the day in Guna.

While in Delhi, marching contingents, strategic defence weaponry and colourful tableaux were on display as India celebrated its 69th Republic Day with a grand parade watched by thousands of people along with ten ASEAN leaders who attended the event as chief guests, in a historic first.
