Reports suggest Naxals plan to attack RJD, JVM during polls
NEW DELHI: Security agencies in Jharkhand were today put on alert after intelligence inputs suggested that Naxals were planning to attacks leaders of Rashtriya Janata Dal ( RJD) and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha ( JVM).

Intelligence agencies also intercepted conversations of leaders of Pakistan-based militant groups Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammad with local commanders in Jammu and Kashmir asking them to ensure boycott of coming assembly elections, official sources said.

Alarmed by the inputs, the Home Ministry asked authorities in Jharkhand to ensure foolproof security of RJD and JVM leaders and elections rallies attended by them.

The sources said that according to the reports, CPI (Maoists) would try to attack leaders of RJD and JVM during the campaigning and five-phased polling period which will start tomorrow.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh had said on Saturday that Jharkhand is the worst Naxal-affected state in the country among the seven which have been witnessing violence by the red ultras.

"More than 33 per cent of Naxal violence take place in Jharkhand," he had said.
