Relief sanctioned for victims of Samba militant attack

J&K govt has sanctioned Rs one lakh each as ex-gratia to the next of kin of those killed in the militant attack.

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir government has sanctioned Rs one lakh each as ex-gratia to the next of kin of those killed in the militant attack in Samba district on Sunday.

Besides Rs 50000 each has been given to those who were injured in the attack, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Surab Bhagat said.

The Deputy Commissioner, who visited the house of one of the victims yesterday, gave a cheque of Rs 10,000 to his family members.

He also gave a cheque of Rs 10,000 as interim relief to one Suresh Singh, whose house was damaged badly as militants had taken shelter there.

Besides distributing essential commodities to the affected families, Bhagat also asked officials to prepare relief cases immediately and also constituted a committee to assess the damages suffered by the locals.

The committee is headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Samba, R K Gupta.

The Deputy Commissioner also said that National Foundation for Communal Harmony in Delhi would be approached for appropriate assistance to all victims and affected families.
