Regional parties family outfits now, says JP Nadda

BJP president JP Nadda said on Wednesday that the Congress and regional parties were promoting dynastic politics and only the BJP had a leader, policy, intention, workers and an environment to work together under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the Congress, he said the country was now moving from "Congress-mukt" (Congress-free) to "Congress-lupt" (Congress-disappeared). "Indian National Congress is neither Indian nor national. Congress has become a party of brother and sister and its leadership talks to the workers from London," Nadda said at the inaugural session of BJP's Bengal state executive committee meeting here.

Referring to Trinamool Congress, he said the "Pishi-Bhaio" (a veiled reference to Mamata Banerjee and nephew Abhishek Banerjee) party would be ousted from power as nothing was impossible in politics.


He said: "From PDP in Kashmir to DMK in south, all have transformed from regional powers to family-driven parties, which are either owned by father-sons or father-daughters, and so on."

He cited the examples of Naveen Patnaik in Odisha, Hemant Soren-Shibu Soren in Jharkhand, PDP and National Conference in Jammu & Kashmir, MK Stalin in Tamil Nadu, Lalu Prasad Yadav-Tejashwi Yadav in Bihar and Uddhav Thackeray and NCP in Maharashtra, and termed them as "regional parties turning to family parties".

He said the BJP formed a government in Bihar, and would form governments in Telangana and West Bengal through "democratic means".

"It is only the BJP, where there are leaders and workers with will and willingness to work together. Some parties have workers but no leaders. Where there are leaders, there is no intent ... we can draw the example of Trinamool Congress in this context," he said.
