Ravi Shankar Prasad among top twenty most influential people in Digital Government

Ravi Shankar Prasad, union minister for Electronics and IT, has been featured in top twenty most influential people in Digital Government. The list of 100 most influential people in digital government has been compiled by Apolitical- an NGO based out of United Kingdom.

The list of top twenty influential people also features the Prime Minister of Australia Malcom Turnbull and Tim Berners-Lee, one of the inventors of the World Wide Web among others.

Apolitical said that under the leadership of Prasad, the Indian government has embarked on a new data protection initiative, worked for the cause of digital inclusion, and created a cyber security framework. It added that India had initiated several new e-governance initiatives, including a unified mobile app for services, an online procurement platform, and an open government data platform.


Apolitical is an independent NGO which has brought out this list based on their own independent assessment of global digital space. "Featuring of India's IT Minister in the top twenty most influential people in the digital government is an acknowledgement India's rising digital profile and growing influence in the digital affairs," the ministry said in a statement.
