Smriti Irani and Amit Shah on Friday met President Droupadi Murmu, a day after leading the charge against the Congress over party leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury's 'Rashtrapatni' remark.

"Had the privilege of calling upon the Honourable President of India Droupadi Murmu Ji along with MOS Dr Mahendra Munjpara and John Barla," Irani said in a tweet.

The BJP launched an all-out attack on the Congress and demanded an apology from Congress leader Sonia Gandhi after accusing Chowdhury of directing a "deliberate sexist remark" at President Murmu.
Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, claimed that his statement about "Rashtrapatni" was merely a "slip of the tongue" and that he never intended to belittle the President.
Moreover, both the Houses of Parliament were adjourned on Thursday and Friday amid political uproar and other issues.
