On Sunday, the paper carried the name of Rashmi Thackeray as the editor in its printline. While many may be surprised with the development, Rashmi is not a novice when it comes to politics. While she mostly remains behind the scene, Rashmi frequently interacts with party cadres and has also worked with the party’s women’s wing, but she has never occupied any post in the party.
This is the first time that she has occupied a post either in the party or the newspaper. The paper is currently being managed by Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP, who is also the executive editor of the newspaper. While Rashmi will be the editor, Raut will be managing the day-to-day affairs of the paper.
Saamana has been synonymous with the Shiv Sena ever since it was started by late Sena chief Bal Thackeray in 1988. After Bal Thackeray, Uddhav was the editor of the newspaper. The latter, however, resigned before he was sworn in as the CM as he did not want to be embroiled in any office-of-profit row.
