Ranjit Kumar Dass re-elected as Assam BJP chief

Dass has been instrumental in taking BJP organisations in different corners of the state. BJP in Assam has membership strength of 42 lakh.

GUWAHATI: With Assam going to assembly polls next year, BJP in Assam has re-elected Ranjit Ranjit Kumar Dass as state unit president for second term.

Under Dass leadership BJP in Assam has won nine Lok Sabha seats and performed exceptionally well in the Panchayat polls.

Dass has been instrumental in taking BJP organisations in different corners of the state. BJP in Assam has membership strength of 42 lakh.


Assam chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal said that Dass has worked hard and party now has a membership of 42 lakh.

Meanwhile Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi in the exercise of power vested in him under clause (1) of Article 164 of the Constitution of India appointed two Ministers of State by administering them oath of office and secrecy.

The two ministers Jogen Mohan and Sanjoy Kishan have been inducted into the Council of Ministers as Ministers of State. This is the second expansion of the BJP led government which came to power in the state in 2016.

Labour minister Pallab Lochan Das went to Lok Sabha winning the general election from Tezpur Lok Sabha constituency while Power minister Topon Gogoi won from Jorhat seat.
