PUDUCHERRY: The Rangasamy-led All India NR Congress ( AINRC) ministry was today expanded with the induction of ruling party legislator P R Siva from Tirunallar in Karaikal region.

Lt Governor Lt General (retired) A K Singh administered the oath of office to him at a simple function at Raj Niwas.

With his induction, the ministry strength is back to six. In November 2011, the then Education Minister P M L Kalyanasundaram was removed from the cabinet when he was mired in the SSLC scam.

Besides the Chief Minister, Speaker V Sabapathy, Ministers, MPs R Radhakrishnan ( Lok Sabha), N Gokulakrishnan (Rajya Sabha), AIADMK legislator Ohm Sakthi Sekar and other top officials were present.

Siva was elected to the Assembly on an AINRC ticket in the 2011 Assembly polls from the temple town of Tirunallar.

He has retained the constituency as he was elected on an MDMK ticket in the 2006 polls. He quit the party following differences of opinion with its high command and joined AINRC a few weeks ahead of the polls in 2011.
