The home ministry and CISF are in the final stages of 'security survey' of the ashram and a decision to hand over its security to CISF will be taken soon, sources said. The initial assessment of the security audit is in favour of deploying the central paramilitary force for which CISF will be paid by Patanjali.
Last year, the government provided 'Z' category CRPF security cover to Ramdev.
The decision to hold a complete security audit of Patanjali was taken by the home ministry and CISF after one person was killed in a clash earlier this year between the security guards and supporters of the truck union.
CISF cover has been provided to Electronics City, Bengaluru, Infosys Technologies offices in Bengaluru, Pune and Mysore, Reliance Refineries and Petrochemicals in Jamnagar and Coastal Gujarat Power Limited in Gujarat. CISF, which has a 'pay-for-security' model, is providing security cover to nuclear installations, space establishments, airports, seaports, power plants, sensitive government buildings and heritage monuments. It is also engaged in security of metro railways in different cities, VIP security, apart from having a police unit in a UN mission.
