Ramdas Athawale urges RPI leaders to introspect after poll debacle

Senior RPI leader Ramdas Athawale has called upon the leaders of Republican Parties to introspect in view of the poll debacle in the district.

NAGPUR: Senior RPI leader Ramdas Athawale, who had forged an alliance with the Shiv Sena-BJP combine for the recently concluded municipal corporation elections in the state, has called upon the leaders of Republican Parties to introspect in view of the poll debacle in the district.

The BSP won 12 seats in the 145 house of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and their performance makes it necessary for leaders of Republican Parties to look into the poor results in their favour, Athawale told reporters here yesterday.

He said the BSP's 12 seat victory in Nagpur was a shock for the Republican Party faction, as it had a sizeable following in the city.

Athawale said though that Dalit support had transferred to the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance, their votes were not shifted to Republican Party faction, led by himself.
