Ban on Babas?
Irked by recent controversies surrounding self-styled godmen, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad, the apex body of Hindu sadhus, has released a list of 14 "fake babas" and demanded a crackdown on "rootless cult leaders" by bringing in a legislation.

Asaram Bapu
Asaram Bapu was arrested in a sexual assault case. In 2013, a teenage devotee had filed a police complaint against the self styled godmen for sexually assaulting her when she was staying in his ashram on the outskirts of Ahmedabad. Asaram was arrested by Jodhpur Police on August 31, 2013 and has been in jail since then.

Narayan Sai
Narayan Sai, the son of spiritual guru Asaram Bapu, who is accused of raping a women in his ashram premises. Two sisters, who lived in Surat, had filed rape complaints against Asaram Bapu and Narayan Sai at different police stations in Gujarat. They alleged they were raped by the duo during their stay in the ashram in mid-2000s.

Self style godmen Rampal was acquitted in two criminal cases by a court in Hisar town. In November 2014, Rampal had holed himself up inside his ashram in Haryana and his armed followers had clashed with police and paramilitary personnel.
