Rajya Sabha mourns the passing away of its former member Era Sambasivam

NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha today mourned the passing away of its former member Era Sambasivam.

When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned of the passing away of Sambasivam, who represented Tamil Nadu in Rajya Sabha from 1983 to 1989, on October 22 at the age of 90 years.

"In the passing away of Shri Era Sambasivam, the country has lost a distinguished parliamentarian and a dedicated social worker," he said, after which members stood in silence as mark of respect to the memory of the departed.
