Rajya Sabha mourns death of ex-Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chand Ram

Rajya Sabha mourned the death of a former member and former deputy CM of Haryana. Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned the passing away of Ram on June 15 at the age of 92 years.

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha today mourned the death of a former member and former deputy Chief Minister of Haryana Chand Ram.

When the House met for the day, Chairman Hamid Ansari mentioned of the passing away of Ram on June 15 at the age of 92 years.

An agriculturist, journalist and economist, Ram was a crusader for social reforms, he said. Ram represented the state of Haryana in the Upper House from March 1983 to April 1984.

"In the passing away of Shri Chand Ram, the country has lost a distinguished parliamentarian, an able administrator and a dedicated social worker," Ansari said deeply mourning his passing away.

The members observed silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the departed.
