The opposition has negotiated for revoking the suspension of Congress MP Rajani Patil from the Rajya Sabha and the demand is believed to be under the active consideration of the chairman of the Upper House, sources said.

Patil was suspended from the Rajya Sabha on February 10 for videographing the proceedings of the House a day earlier, leading to its widespread dissemination on social media platforms. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar took disciplinary action against the MP on a complaint made by the BJP.

Minutes before adjourning the House after the Budget session, Dhankhar announced that the suspension of Patil had been extended beyond that session. This was after taking inputs from the privileges committee, which was investigating the matter, he had said. Now with the government and opposition engaging in dialogue to end a logjam in Parliament over a debate on Manipur, Patil's suspension has also come up for discussion, sources said.
