KANPUR: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate a unit of Indo Tibetan Border Police( ITBP) force at Sarsaul, around 35 km from here, on January 28.

District BJP President Surendra Maithani today said the Minister will land at the Chakeri airport on January 28 in the morning and will attend the inauguration programme, scheduled between 10.45 am and 11.40 am.

The programme was earlier scheduled in December last year, but due to dense fog, it had to be cancelled. Now it has been scheduled as the weather has improved, he said, adding that Rajnath will leave for Allahabad after the function.

The ITBP unit was approved by the UPA government in 2008 under the then Kanpur MP and former Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal.

Expressing happiness over the completion of the project, Jaiswal said it was his dream to see a Central force in Kanpur and he was happy to see it come true and also that it didn't matter who inaugurated it now.
