KOLKATA: After two days of unrest in the hills, Union Home Ministry has sought a report from the Bengal government in connection with the ongoing agitation. According to sources, the Home Ministry might send a team to inspect the situation.

The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), an ally of BJP has already written to Home Minister Rajnath Singh explaining the political situation in the area and raised its statehood demand again. Meanwhile, the GJM has held an all-party meeting in Darjeeling. Gorkha National Liberal Front (GNLF) of Subhas Ghising(the late leader of Gorkha movement), known as the arch-enemy of GJM joined the meeting.

According to sources in GJM ranks, GNLF and other hill parties have decided to condemn the police action in the area collectively.

Significantly, GNLF had joined hands with Trinamool Congress during 2016 assembly and the recent civic elections.
