Rajnath asks Congress to withdraw Rahul's remark on Gandhi killing
HYDERABAD: Taking a strong exception to Rahul Gandhi's remarks linking RSS with the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, BJP president Rajnath Singh today demanded Congress to withdraw these "unfounded" allegations.

He also demanded making public the Thakkar Commission report on killing of then prime minister Indira Gandhi.

"Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi said RSS got Mahatma Gandhi killed. I want to ask Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, try to read the pages of history. Ban on RSS was lifted six months after imposition by the Congress government after it accepted that the allegations against RSS were baseless," Singh said while addressing a public meeting here.

The BJP President said that Kapoor Commission, which was set up to go into Gandhiji's killing, had also accepted that allegations against RSS were not correct.

"Still, Rahul Gandhi did not hesitate to make these allegations. I would like to demand they take back these allegations," Singh said, while addressing the meeting organised to complement Telangana people on the formation of separate state.

"Can't you do politics by telling truth," he questioned. Launching a blistering attack on Congress, Singh asked why the report of Thakkar panel on Indira Gandhi's assassination was not made public even now.

"Where is the report? It has not been made public," he said.

Referring to recent spate of mishaps affecting the naval fleet, the BJP leader alleged the Congress has failed to handle issues related to national security effectively.

"I am told that another submarine sunk because the life of its battery had expired. The prestige of the country is not upheld and guarded like this," he said.

Addressing a rally in Thane district of Maharashtra on March 6, Rahul had said "RSS people killed Gandhiji and today their people (BJP) talk of him... They opposed Sardar Patel and Gandhiji".
