MATHURA: An FIR has been lodged against Union minister Rajiv Shukla for allegedly violating the model code of conduct by attending a private function in a official vehicle with red beacon atop.

The FIR was lodged on the night of March 16, soon after the Union Minister of State for Parliamentary affairs attended a foundation stone laying ceremony of Chandrodaya temple in Vrindavan town.

"Red light on the vehicle of Rajiv Shukla, during his visit to Vrindavan on March 16 was found, when he attended foundation stone laying ceremony of Vrindaban Chandroday temple. It is a violation of election code of conduct," FIR filed by Naib Tahsildar Braj Pal Singh in Vrindavan police station said.

Assistant District Election Officer Sudheer Kumar has confirmed the filing of FIR.

"Flying squad team of Lok Sabha polls 2014 formed at district level was deputed to look for any violation. On its recommendation the FIR under Section 171 CrPc, has been filed," Kumar said.
