Rajinikanth rhetoric on united opposition: 'In 10 against one contest, who is the stronger one?'

"If 10 people get together to oppose one, who is the stronger of the lot?," Rajinikanth said adding that it is in the hands of the electorate to decide who should be the winner at the hustings.

Rajinikanth endorses Modi, says prime minister is stronger
In what seemed like his analogy to describe the coalescing political forces against the BJP, actor Rajinikanth equaled the United Opposition plan to 10 people banding together to take on one person, indicating that the BJP is the stronger political party in the 2019 Parliamentary arena.

"If 10 people get together to oppose one, who is the stronger of the lot?," adding that it is in the hands of the electorate to decide who should be the winner at the hustings.

So far, this is the closest Rajinikanth has come to endorsing the BJP.

To a pointed question if the lone fighter he is referring to in his analogy was the BJP, Rajinikanth responded: "It can't get clearer than this."

Rajinikanth organised a press meet on Tuesday after statements he made about the ongoing attempt to release the seven people convicted in the Rajiv Gandhi assasination case. The actor was stumped by a question about the seven convicts during the press meet; he clarified that the question did not mention that it was about Rajiv Gandhi assassination.

Rajinikanth's statement about the United Opposition plan evoked responses from across the political spectrum. It had the AIADMK ministers standing by their own government, defending their efforts to secure state autonomy rights and so on. Rajinikanth's criticism of AIADMK cadre tearing up posters and banners of the Sarkar movie also evoked a sharp response from the ministers.
