Rajinikanth pays property tax to civic body; expresses regret over approaching the Madras HC
The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Thursday confirmed that actor Rajinikanth paid Rs 6.5 lakh as property tax for his Raghavendra marriage hall, a day after he had moved the court against the civic body over the same issue.

Rajinikanth claimed that he had sought remission of property tax from the GCC for the popular marriage hall that the actor owns. He said that he sought remission owing to business plummeting due to the pandemic and refund of all advance payments since the March lockdown. He claimed that the GCC did not respond to him and hence he was moving the court. The HC, however, warned the actor of imposing costs for wasting the court's time when he should have sent a reminder to the civic body for its tax demand of Rs 6.5 lakh for the months April-September for the marriage hall.
