Rajasthan urges private hospitals to volunteer for services

NEW DELHI: The Rajasthan government has appealed to private hospitals and private doctors across the state to volunteer their services to fight Covid-19 after five private hospitals in the ‘hotspot’ town of Bhilwara in Rajasthan were taken over by the government. This follows the Chhattisgarh government taking over a private hospital in Raipur for Covid-19 treatment.

Many private hospitals in Jaipur and other cities of Rajasthan have also agreed to offer their facilities to the government on short notice. The state government is trying its best to provide treatment for Covid-19 patients but alternative arrangements will need to be made given the possibility of an increase in the number of patients in future. Hence, the government has appealed to the owners of all private hospitals, trusts and societies to give their assent to offer their hospitals, either fully or partially, for Covid-19 treatment, the Rajasthan government has said in a statement.

The state government has also appealed to private doctors, nurses and paramedical staff to also offer their services and they have been asked to suggest their preference of the district where they would like to work . Private hospitals, which are willing, have been asked to specify the number of ICU beds and functional ventilators they have, besides the number of doctors and nurses on their rolls. “Many private hospitals and private medical staff have shown their inclination to help out the state government and will be roped in soon,” a state government official said.
