JAIPUR: Rajasthan government today started inspection and sample collection of Maggi noodles from markets across the state, following reports of high lead and monosodium glutamate (MSG) content in the popular snack.

A letter to launch the special campaign till June 10 was written by Atrey yesterday following directions of the Health Minister.

"All the food inspectors of the state have been directed to collect random samples of Maggi noodles from the retail stores from across the state. The samples would then be sent to Ghaziabad for test in laboratory, he told adding the report is expected within 15 days," said State Health minister Rajendra Rathore, who was on a day visit to Kota on Wednesday.

The state may also ban Maggi, like other states if the product is found sub standard and unhealthy. No compromise regarding the heath of the people would be made, he added.
