Rajasthan Speaker CP Joshi to move top court after High Court breather to Sachin Pilot & others

A day after Sachin Pilot and other rebel Congress MLAs got a breather from the High Court, the state Assembly Speaker CP Joshi has said that he will move the Supreme Court.

The Speaker said that they are heading towards a Constitutional crisis.

The Rajasthan High Court told the Speaker not to proceed with the disqualification notices issued to the 19 rebel Congress MLAs including Sachin Pilot and wait till Friday when the High Court is expected to announce its order.


"Speaker's responsibilities are well defined by Supreme Court & Constitution. As Speaker I got an application & to seek info on it, I issued show-cause notice. If show cause notice will not be issued by authority, then what is the work of authority," ANI quoted the Rajasthan Assembly Speaker as saying.

Pilot and the 18 dissident Congress MLAs have challenged their disqualification notices in the high court through a writ petition. The petition was taken up by a bench of Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty and Justice Prakash Gupta on Friday and arguments were held.

The notices to MLAs were served after the party complained to the Speaker that the legislators had defied a whip to attend two Congress Legislature Party meetings, on Monday and Tuesday last week.
