Rajasthan results 'depressing', says dejected BJP

NEW DELHI: As the early trends for the assembly elections in five states came in, the BJP today said it was disappointed with the outcome in Rajasthan.

The trends suggested a clear defeat for the ruling BJP in Rajasthan while it is in a neck and neck fight with Congress in Chattisgarh. The saffron party is also trailing the Congress in Delhi. However, it appears all set to return to power with a thumping majority in Madhya Pradesh.

"It is sad. The results have been depressing in Rajasthan," party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters. While the party is relieved that its government is returning to power in Madhya Pradesh "defying the Uma Bharti factor", it is hoping to retain Chhattisgarh. "We are hopeful Chhattisgarh and Delhi," party leader Prakash Javdekar said.
