JAISALMER: Two years after former Pakistani lawmaker Abdul Sattar allegedly illegally visited prohibited areas here, Rajasthan government has ordered a probe by vigilance wing of police into the issue, a senior police official said today.

"Former MP of Pakistan People's Party Abdul Sattar had visited Jaisalmer's remote areas of Mohangarh and Nachana villages on August 26 and 27, 2012. Hence the state government has expressed serious concern on this, and ordered to re-initiate the probe by vigilance wing", Jaisalmer SP Visas Sharma said.

An outfit Simajan Kalayan Samiti (Border Welfare Committee) had submitted a memorandum to the district authorities objecting to Sattar's "secret visit" to the remote villages, the SP said.

As a foreigner, the visitor did not take the necessary permission to visit the prohibited areas, the SP said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Gopal Singh of the vigilance wing arrived in Jaisalmer district on September 19 for investigation and it is likely to be completed by September 25, he said.

The owner of the hotel, where the former member of Pakistan's National Assembly from Rahim Yar Khan stayed, was among those quizzed by the vigilance team.
