Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today inaugurated Mehengai Rahat Camp (inflation relief camps).

"Defeating inflation begins from today! Inaugurated the country's first historic dearness relief camp at Mahapura in Jaipur," Gehlot tweeted.

"We are serious about the sufferings of the people in this difficult period of inflation. Inflation relief camps will give relief to the people and instill new hope of progress in their lives," he added.


The state government will establish a total of 2,700 such camps in the coming times.


These camps will be organised in the state from Monday in which people need to register their names to get the benefits of 10 schemes, including the gas cylinder scheme, the free electricity scheme for households and farmers, the free food scheme, NREGA, the urban employment guarantee scheme, Kamdhenu Bima Yojana, the Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme, and the Chiranjeevi accidental insurance scheme.

As per the state government, registration in these camps will be completely free.

These camps will remain open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The state government has increased health insurance scheme cover to Rs 25 lakh, while accidental scheme cover is now Rs 10 lakh. Besides, the state government is offering 76 lakh families gas cylinders for Rs 500. Under the free electricity scheme, the state government is offering 100 units free for households every month, while farmers can claim up to 2000 units of free electricity. The state government is also running a free ration scheme.

It is to be noted that assembly elections in Rajasthan are scheduled to be held later this year.
