Rajasthan Mahila Congress head favours 33% tickets for women in polls

Shakuntala Rawat said she would strive hard to ensure 33% party tickets for women in the upcoming assembly election in the state.

JAIPUR: Rajasthan Mahila Congress chief Shakuntala Rawat today said she would strive hard to ensure 33 per cent party tickets for women in the upcoming assembly election in the state.

Talking to reporters here, she said her focus would on revitalising the women's wing of the ruling party at state, district and panchayat levels.

"We will hold meetings and seminars during our 100-day programme for empowerment of women," Rawat, who was appointed Rajasthan Mahila Congress President on June 10, said.

"We will also encourage them to actively participate in the ongoing Congress Sandesh Yatra in the state," she said.

Her focus would be on ensuring 33 per cent representation for women in the coming election, Rawat said.
