JAIPUR: Rajasthan Minister Anita Bhadel today asked people to come forward and boycott child marriages to check such practice.

In a radio address, Minister of state for Women and Child Development Bhadel said the government was making serious efforts to curb social evils like child marriage and sought people's active support in eradicating such customs, an official spokesperson said.

The minister said even bands, tent dealers, sweet-makers and others are labile for action if they are found providing their services to any child marriage in the state.

Bhadel claimed that due to the government's effective monitoring, the number of child marriages were very few on the occasion of Akha Teej last month, the spokesperson said.

The minister also spoke to several callers from districts like Jaipur, Barmer, Kota, Jalore, Jodhpur and told them about the government's initiatives like ' Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' for empowerment of girls and women.
