Rajasthan Congress crisis: Sachin Pilot calls for a truce, party ready to address his grievances

After a long drawn out standoff over the past month, Sachin Pilot met with Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi on Monday and seems to have struck a deal with the party leadership that could see him return to the party ahead of Rajasthan's August 14 assembly session.

"Sachin Pilot has met with former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and expressed his grievances in detail. They have had a frank, open and conclusive discussion. Pilot has committed to working in the interest of the Congress party and the Congress government in Rajasthan," said a statement from KC Venugopal, General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Sachin Pilot had rebelled against the party last month, along with 18 other MLAs, which led to his removal as the Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress chief. However, it seems that Pilot's demands have been heard by the party, as the Gandhis have agreed to set up a committee to resolve his issues within the Congress.


"Following this meeting, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has decided that the AICC will constitute a three member committee to address the issues raised by Sachin Pilot and the aggrieved MLAs and arrive at an appropriate resolution thereof," added the statement from the AICC.
