Raja's video trial wish is granted by court
A Special CBI court on Tuesday allowed Raja's plea to appear before it through video-conferencing in the 2G spectrum allocation scam case.
"The remand proceedings of accused A Raja shall be conducted through the facility of video-conferencing on March 3, without him being physically brought to the court from Tihar Jail," Special CBI Judge O P Saini said.
The court's orders came on Raja's plea which stated that due to his security concern, the proceedings be conducted through video-conferencing. During the arguments Raja's counsel Ramesh Gupta said that no purpose be served even if he was physically brought before the court.
Counsel Gupta also submitted that video-conferencing facility is available in Tihar jail and court as well and as per the amended sections of CrPC, the remand proceeding can be conducted through electronic video linkage.
