Raja will be in jail if I become public prosecutor: Subramanian Swamy

LUCKNOW: Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy today said if he was made a public prosecutor in the 2G spectrum case, former Telecom minister A Raja would be in jail within the next four months.

"I have requested the Tees Hazari court, where an application seeking an arrest warrant against former Telecom Minister has been moved, to appoint me as the public prosecutor. If it happens Raja will be in the jail in the next four months," Swamy said addressing a seminar on 'Loktantra Se Loottantra Tak' here.

The application is slated to come up for hearing on February 5, he said.

The Janata Party leader alleged that during 2G spectrum allocations, which was done on a first come first served basis, "favours" were made and people accomodated through the "backdoor".

"As the telecom minister, Raja decided to allocate licence at the rate fixed in 2000," he said alleging that licences were given to those companies, which had never worked in the telecom sector.

"These companies sold their licences to foreign companies at eight times the price they had actually paid to the government," the Janata Party leader alleged.
