Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray has urged said the Centre to implement the Citizenship Amendment Bill and National Register of Citizens (NRC) claiming that the “country needs to be cleaned”.

Raj, who seems to be gravitating towards the BJP, addressed a well-attended morcha cum rally at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan and targeted Pakistan, the Nigerian community living on the outskirts of Mumbai and the Muslim community which were opposing the CAA and NRC.

“Why are they (Muslims) protesting against CAA and NRC? The law is not against Indian Muslims. Why are they protesting? Who is removing you from the country,” he asked. “The freedom that you (Muslims) have got in the country is not given to anyone else in the world. Why are you trying to spoil the country that has given you so much,” he asked.

Questioning the huge rallies taken out by Muslims, Raj said, “Who are you showing your strength to?”

He said there can be no “compromise in removing Pakistan and Bangladeshi Muslims from the country”.
