Rainfall activity to reduce over northwest & west India and south peninsula from August 22nd
As per meteorologists, the low-pressure area now lies over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha and become well marked.
Since June 1 till August 18, the country has received 14% above normal rainfall at 702 mm. West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir and West Rajasthan have received the maximum rainfall during the same period.

The axis of monsoon trough was passing through Ferozepur, Meerut, Allahabad, Daltonganj, centre of well marked low-pressure area and thence east-southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal.
In next 24 hoursheavy to very heavy rainfall was forecast occur at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh, gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand. Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana.
As per IMD forecast for August 21, heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over east Madhya Pradesh. Heavy rainfall would occur at isolated places over west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Konkan & Goa.
